What started off as a boys and girls club turned into a place of refuge in North Philly for children and their families. The Lighthouse’s mission is to provide educational, recreational, cultural, social and economic improvement programs to families. Enter Operation ROV, Recreation Over Violence, a program created to support children and families through anti-violence initiatives.
Recreation Over Violence (ROV) is funded through anti-violence grants to create affordable baseball, soccer, basketball, and more. This program not only supports children by encouraging them to participate in recreational sports, it also provides the families in the neighborhood support and education around anti-violence resources and practices.
Part of the Recreation Over Violence program is connecting children, families, and attendees to as many resources as possible through the Lighthouse’s partnerships. The Recreation Over Violence team will try to get to know many families so that we can help them on and off the field. This support goes onto your neighbors, extended family, and friends, so please let us know how we can support in any way!
